Is it worth trying a software update on it? I have found the CD images on what I believe to be a trusted site but am not sure if I can just jump to 5570 or not.
You'll have to update with 4E0906961H first. Others have reported when updating straight to 5570 some modules have gone into CP and or lost functions like Speech and Bluetooth. I would personally wait until you have VCDS and can log/save all coding before updating.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I'll hang fire until VCDS arrives.

No mate you need the earlier CD, I can upload it for you but it's not going to be straight away, I got mine from Germany on eBay iirc, cost £30, for that though you get a copy of the earlier cd that takes you to 11 something then you go up to 5570 after that with genuine CD's that all come as the package.

Just to confirm when you just press CAR the set up button is off and the screen posted above is what you see?

No don't want anything for it, I've got to have the laptop on tomorrow to send some emails so whilst doing that I'll try and upload to drop box or something as I don't know where else I can put it, I'm not really upload savvy

I've used power iso to rip the update CD, ill leave it up for today so get it whilst its hot, as it's a right ****ter to get hold of.

i take no responsibility for what might happen to anyone's car if they choose to use this update disc, the onus is on yourselves if things go wrong, but i have used this disc on my own car and successfully went from 0770 to 5570 with the other discs that are easily found on the interweb without a hitch, good luck

How long ago? As many people have mentioned you can't get it any more, I can't remember if I tried or not but the place I got my discs from gave me a genuine set of 5570 update discs and a copy of the earlier disc, which would coincide with what's been said.
