Same here Lee.
Although it may take a while as it needs 500 miles to bed them in, and usually it takes me a month if not more to cover that distance, but as I love night drives with ''no destination'', it may take less time before I can start throwing it around the corners

Also on A6 if I switch off ESP it still seems to be working but at lesser stage, only way to fully disangage it seems to be cut power yo ABS ECU.

I never knew that ESP was that recent (OK 20 years), my 1998 PF S8 had it and it worked really well, only when you pushed to (or beyond!) the limit.

Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

We are drifting away a bit here from the thread but yes mine is a very early S8 from 1997.

Just to follow this up GoodYear F1 on my S8 seem to be OK in hot weather, really nice grip and full tank of petrol means more weight at the back eliminating rear loosing traction. But they have worn quite a bit as well. Thry have probably gone from 7mm tread to 4mm tread in less than 4k miles and have been awful in cold and wet.

Yes, my friend said the same thing when I suggested to him I was going to buy a set of F1s. He said that despite the 'hype' they were very 'ordinary' and they wore out completely in about 8k to 10k. I canned the idea and got a set of 4 P-Zeros with PNCS from Oponeo. I'll stick with what works the best on my car. I have never ever had a loss of traction or any breakaways no matter what the conditions, they wear well and fairly evenly. I always buy the 'R01' specced versions too. If they're OK for an RS6 they'll do me !! Fine tyres.

Last week I put 4 Kumho Ecsta on.
Quietest tyre I have ever had on any car. Period. Great in last weeks rain. Probably wear out quickly but at the moment I am loving them, just saying. Also fitted on the Q7 by Audi, according to WL Audi tyre man. I had Yoko's on before and they lasted 30k miles! Admittedly I probably should have changed them at 29.5k!! 95% of my miles are motorway.

Sorry for the delay guys.
So, after visiting my favourite tyre place Goodyear F1 was out of the question straight away, sidewall was horrible, soft like a sponge. So I ended up putting 4x P Zero RO1 PNCS Del, are you happy with F1's so far??

Curiously we have Asymmetric 2s on the TT and they are great so I wonder if they only really work with smaller sidewalls? Last edited by MikkiJayne; 6th September 2017 at 08:56 AM. |
