Default Suspension Lowering - Experienced VCDS owner?

Hi there

Id like to lower the old girl a little but a) dont have a VCDS and b) even if I did am a bit scared of trying this procedure as a complete noob.

Ive attached a description of the procedure I found on another forum - it looks straightforward on paper but having never done it I'm not really in a position to judge. Its basically the calibration procedure as detailed on the Ross Tech website plus a recode step beforehand.

So, was wondering if there is a VCDS owner in the Manchester / Warrington area who has done this procedure before, and would perhaps be willing to meet up (on a flat level car park of course!) to do it on my car? In exchange for beer/tea money or a future favour?

Failing that does anyone know of a garage in the area who knows what they are doing and has successfully done this to their car? I had a little bit of other work done by a local garage who claim to be VAG specialists and they said they could do it but clearly had never seen this procedure before, so I got scared and ran away.

All help gratefully received.

Cheers

Adam

The main thing to do is ensure that your system starts at the correct level ie perform a basic re-calibration to get it to starting point, then run the car around for at least 15-20 minutes to let it settle.

Then when you lower it you are putting in figures for the centre of wheel to top of arch height that are too high by say 10mm so that it lowers each corner by 10mm. Golden rule, don't try to do it say 25 or 30mm at once, do it 10mm or even 5mm at a time then run it around until the car is happy with it and the new level has been accepted in the calibration, then move to the next drop etc

Hi Adam,
I've not done this so I'll defer to someone else who has done it before.
Hope it works for you.

Hi

I had mine lowered by PSI engineering in Newcastle Under Lyme. I believe it is work they carry out all the time.
