Default 4.2 TDI - gearbox oil change... where to source parts/oil?

hi,

today I checked with West London Audi and they quoted me ~£210 for the filter/sump, couple gaskets and 7 x litres of oil. Would you consider that being a fair deal or should i approach one of ZF suppliers for a quote too ?

if so i'd appreciate if you could recommend any decent [e.g. reputable] supplier to source required parts for ZF 6HP-26 [Lifeguard 6/Gold oil]?

Cheers

I buy ZF parts from JPat.co.uk authorised ZF agent etc and cheaper than Audi.. Ideally you will need the ZF number stamped on the side of the box, not Audi number or tranny code to proceed ordering parts with confidence - the latter won't work with their systems.

My experience with the D2 would suggest that you will need more than 7 litres as some of the new is lost flushing out the old.

It's not a horrific quote, but I doubt they'll have the machine to pump the fluid round to empty the torque converter.

There's a few ZF specialists around London - worth looking on the ZF UK site for recognised specialists and giving them a call. If they have the proper machine for pumping fluid round rather than a dump the sump and refill with whatever it takes, and the price isn't much different, then that'd be the way to go IMHO
