Glyn, I don't understand the technilties. But this is one of the most useful gadgets I've had on a car.
It's so handy, as soon as I select reverse the cam comes up on the widescreen RNS E and I haven't used my rear view mirror once when reversing. Just the camera and side mirrors as the camera has shows more then the rear view could ever show.
Scares the hell outa people outside watching me
Reverse though!

Hi Amar,

Thanks for the reply...

I bet people watching you reversing will think one of two things;

1. He doesn't give a fcuk

2. He must have eyes in the back of his head!

Do you feed the cam output directly to the RNS-E or via the TV Tuner?

I believe you are not too far away from me? I 'm just down the road in Banbury...

Thanks & kind regards,

Has anybody seen these VAG specific number plate cameras...I wonder if any of them will fit the S8?

Complete range here;

Looks like a neat, tidy & no holes needed solution to me...anyone tried one?

Kind regards,

They look very neat and top quality Fancy one of these for the RS4

I would hazard a guess that the Passat/A4 or A6 might fit, but the dimensions are on the website, so just whip out a tape measure and see...

I really miss this feature. I want to install it in the RS6, will it be a pain in an avant? If so, please fit it for me Ian!

Probably not too hard, you only have to get the composite TV signal from the boot lid to the nearside rear quarter where the TV tuner sits. It'll be a bit fiddly I imagine to get the wire neatly out of the boot lid into the car body, but quite do-able....

... and no, I wont do it, I couldnt live with myself if I put a mark on your new pride and joy - but - I suppose if I fitted it, I'd have to test drive it to make sure it all worked.... hmmm...

Your welcome to take it for a spin, its not mint yet. It has the odd minor mark here and there. I'm getting rid of all the marks in a few months time. These are my costs for November.

Insurance £2k
Service and Cambelt few other bits £2k at least
3 year warranty £1900

Comes to around 6k. But looking over on the RS6 forum, I'm doing well and the warranty should pay for itself.
