Even more issues - the 'black bolt' isn't there and, as you can see from the photos, never has been there. So I had to drill the power steering fluid reservoir bracket and fit a nut and bolt. But I got there in the end - again see photos.

There are a few different variants of that bracket depending on the location of the AC drier. Conveniently for Sergey the 3.7 and 3.3 TDI have the same one so the stud would have been there from the factory. The 2.8 and 4.2 had another version of the bracket, evidently without the stud.

Do you have the clip at the back underneath the bonnet seal just behind the coolant cap? Some of these covers appear to have the tab for that clip, some don't, although those which don't may just be broken.

How does she know these things??!! I'm in awe, as always.

And it made me think of an idea: how about, for the annual meet (now in October...), that we have a sort of reverse quiz?

It could work as follows:

1. Anyone on here (not me, I'm useless at anything even vaguely technical on '8s ) think of a question that they think MJ might not know the answer to,

2. Send the question to me (by PM, obviously...),

3. The organising team pick the best ones to ask her,

4. Whichever one(s) she can't answer wins a prize (tbd..).

Simples? And plenty of time - especially at the moment for many of us - to think of really tricky ones to test her.

PS: I know MJ's not currently on the meet attendee list, but I'm sure we can find a way round that

But you must offer MJ a prize for every one she does answer.
20 questions, MJ needs a removal van to get her winnings home.

I think she’s been pretty well tested already. But maybe this could stump her:

I have a 2002 FE S8 (which MJ has done some amazing work on) which I used to pick up some chairs from a reupholsterer this morning (on my way to the supermarket!). What fabric did we choose to have the chairs covered in?

Simple Jim knowing you, it will be the fabric equivalent of old-school 1970s curry-house flock wallpaper.

Good try, but Christine chose the fabric!

So it will definitely be more stylish and classy then...……..
Anyway, we'd better stop diverging from the topic.

I had the same issue when I came to fit mine. I thought I was going mad. I had to drill a hole in the end which was easy enough.
