Default Special tools

Does anybody from you with TPS accounts can get specials tools from them as well? I am looking for a T40104 tool set.

They are not allowed to sell them or at least they are not supposed to. I only found out after my local TPS was taken over and the new franchised owner said they should not have been supplying me with tools. Now i go to VW direct were i have an account. If you wish i can get you a quote but i would try your Audi dealership 1st / TPS - some of them are not aware.

If you could get a quote that would be great.

From what I heard dealers have to sell special tools since 2002 under some European law about fair competition but at least local ones to me refuse to sell them. When I mention European law they say it only relates to trade sales for other garages and that they do not need to sell to general public, I don't know if it is true or not.

It is one like this, used for 2.5TDI aux belt tensioner lever bushes

http://www.xxl-automotive.de/Spezial...eug::3436.html

But is is a bit expensive from the Germany and will take 3-6 days with DHL. Besides that now I have looked at it more I think I can do the job without it, just need to get 12.9 high tensile strength M8 bolt.

Thanks for getting a quote for me and it's cheaper than expected. I have however found somebody who has the tool and has kindly offered to lend it to me for couple of days and it's already in the post on the way over and should be with me before 1pm tomorrow.

Anyway it's good to know you can get tools from TPS.

a8parts do quite a bit of new business now via TPS, and as TPS pricing is linked to the volume you put through them, its always worth giving them a shout. They should be quite competitive, and delivered to your door

TPS are not allowed to sell tools, only VW directly. You have to be a body repair shop doing 7 figure sums to get the the marginal discount applied over normal trade prices (which most trade customers will get) its not worth bothering about tbh or put another way its far less of a discount than you may think.

And the price i quoted from VW is the only price you will get quoted, there is no discount to be had, they just tell you a price and you buy or not etc.
