Default Rear drive shafts removal

Does anyone know of a thread 're removing the rear drive shafts from diff to hub ,i'm considering removing cleaning and refinish as there's quite a bit of rust on the cv joints (ive got wheels and rear brakes stripped of at the moment for mantance),i've had a good look but can't find anything

Have you tried the D3 Tech Dump under the D3 Common Faults thread? There are service docs for the drive train.

Had a look there and details are all there ,I don't see any problem with removing it but am more concerned about having a vibration or something nasty after all is back together again ,(I will mark shaft position on diff of course) but am keen to see if anyone else has done it and had any problems ,there is nothing wrong with the drives currently other than the rust on the cv s, but I wouldn't get them stripped and refinished to a good level without removal shafts and I intend to keep the car

Just take them off, clean as you want, reassemble

Just make sure you have new OE bolts and torque them correctly

I've checked tech dump but can't see the half shaft to rear diff bolt torque setting ,I see the final centre drive to diff and it is 55 nm ,i'm assuming it would be the same for the half shaft to diff ?
