Default D3 2009 headlight warning

Hey folks, last year I battled the dreaded headlight bulb swap and finally won! Last week the dash binged to say a bulb was now out. Feeling sick, I looked, DS was out. Switched it all on and off you do!) and its stayed on. But I get the dash symbol saying a bulb is out...

I could live with the dash being lit up for christmas. But would rather get to the bottom of it just in case it later does go off and stay off.

Thoughts please folks... Appreciated

Perhaps the ballast is on it's way out. You can try swapping them over and see if it shows the other side as faulty? Did you replace it with a good quality bulb?

Bought the bulb direct from our sponsors

What will the ballast look like? Is it the part the bulb attaches in to??

Appreciate the response

No. The ignitor is what connects directly to the bulb. The ballast is a rectangular box mounted to the right of the driver's headlamp.

I had an issue with intermittent display of one headlight bulb warning showing on my RS6, it would happen at random and would go away if I played about with switching them off and on a few times, I changed bulbs on both sides, (I wanted better/brighter bulbs) and also replaced the igniter on the offending side which seems to have sorted it. Problem with replacing more than one component is you never really know what caused it. The igniter is fairly cheap so probably worth replacing it at same time as bulb
