If you but a car that is 27 months old, it comes with the balance of the factory warranty which it's "topped up" to a minimum if 12 months, so effectively 9 months if factory followed by 3 months insurance backed.

The approved checks are in my view marketing guff, so make sure you go around the car and don't get fobbed off before you drive away!

Happy to concede to folks with more recent experience - Mine was 6 months out of factory warranty when I bought it, so it was a straight 12 months slapped on in that case.

This however, i'm less inclined to concede to - I've had everything from squeaky headlinings to loose subwoofers to faulty towbars all done under extended warranty. I got some resistance from the dealer over the towbar as they struggled with the concept it was factory fitted and not an accessory, but got them to put the claim in (which was rejected because they did a half arsed job) then I rang the Audi warranty direct and got them to approve it...

I'm not sure factory warranty is approved any more swiftly than extended but interested to hear any examples....

I think a supplying dealer is likely going to respond to faults a little more swiftly as the ball is going to land in their court no matter how the warranty conversation goes I guess.

But, depends on the dealer.

And, I've personally had experience of Ipswich cutting corners. They are the cowboys that sold a Q7 with faulty keyless entry. Warranty claim was rejected because the car was sold with faults. Ended up with my local Audi cross charging them for the work which they eventually conceded to, after getting Audi UK involved.

I'd walk away from this car Roberto, it sounds like a heap of bother tbh.

i had a phone call from Amanda (sales) saturday asking where we were on the sale as it was her day off friday.
i said im still waiting for some information about the service history as there is none online at all.
maybe you should call the last owner and find out from him i said.
she said ok i will call you back.

Nothing.....

its advertised on audi website and autotrader Full Service History Available Immediately !
maybe i should report it to Audi UK

so Yes Ian im walking away.....which really pees me off as its good spec and very rare on 67plate and low miles.....

Check out the exclusions in the cover booklet, pages 10-11. https://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/a...20Warranty.pdf

It looks like you have personally experienced one of those!

I've had squeeking sunroof, not covered as you had it looked at under factory warranty (pre-existing), then when I argued that not covered as glass/seals, offer of 40% "good will" to install a new sunroof, I greased the seals - problem solved.

Most recent one was the mirror adjustment switch had stopped working, they had the part in stock and was essentially a 15 minute job, but "can take a few hours for approval as we have to send pictures and logs from the car and then await auth before we do the work", so all day job! I'm told on factory warranty they have pre-auth, but not extended.

My 12v sockets still aren't working, fuse pops immediately, seems to be short to ground. I need to agree to pay to strip down at £130 an hour + VAT as it likely won't be covered as a wiring fault.....

Honestly, it is a war of attrition, and easier to fix niggles myself, but for the fear of voiding the warranty

On My 4M I had squeaking sunroof / headlining resolved under approved used warranty.

We thought it was the sunroof at first, so they pushed back on it as it hadn't had the sunroof service performed (been down this road before) but as the supplying dealer had claimed it has full Audi service history, a couple of calls with them and they agreed to cover the cost for my local dealer to do the sunroof service, after which they investigated and resolved for free....

I've never experienced any different between the factory, approved used and extended warranties personally, but its not to say there aren't different processes at work under the covers.

Don't think mentioned here, but worth noting that the 1st 2 years of a new car warranty are covered by Audi Germany, the 3rd year falls to Audi in the UK to cover the costs/cover.....

I'd expect a warranty claim in the 3rd year to be almost as much of a pain in the arse as extended warranty

Aside from warranty, you then get into 'good will' which dealers have more leeway to authorise without referral to Audi UK than they used to (i.e. they have a budget for good will which they'll use on customers they've seen before for work they know should be covered). I had the instrument cluster on the S5 replaced via this method, beyond the warranty cover.

Walk away......

I have first hand experience of Ipswich cutting corners.

Its not like they're your local dealer, so you're going to have to convince your local dealer everytime you want warranty work, that it is actually valid - and I reckon you'll struggle.

If you want to try and kick up a fuss, ring Audi UK and get their take on it - But my last interaction with them was very disappointing to be honest, so don't think they're going to give too hoots about sorting issues out for you further down the line either...

If you want something fast, that works, and doesn't need servicing or a service history, would you like my Tesla referral code ?
