It sure would be cheap parts
There was was a vid on YouTube showing the exact results. I do know that I had a straight through design rear box with an H-pipe and the drone was horrific. Worst at motorway speeds, which was very annoying.

It's quite a complex standard box. I would imagine partly to eliminate the drone.

He removed all the internal pipework, simplified it and fitted a tiny silencer on one side. This is the result:

A8freunde member Tennohund modified his exhaust by removing the H-pipe and putting straight through pipes (I think) through all the boxes.
He achieved a very nice sound (IMO).

I cant find the original post on A8freunde forum where he posted pictures of the modifications, but he has re-posted a picture on another forum.

http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/sport...55.html?page=2

There were several youtube videos with apparently no serious drone.
Only one video remains its been re-posted after the owner deleted the originals. This one does not show in cabin so can't judge for drone.

I copied the photo from the other forum for future reference in case the thread gets deleted.

Ahh yes, Tennohund, I remember now. I did wonder where all his videos had gone. He showed some stills at the beginning of a video showing what the inside looked like.

It does sound great.
