Default D2 S8 Cruise Control Module Location?

Hi All.

For the life of me I cannot find this.

Can someone help?

It is not by the windcreen mechanisim or under the ECU's in the sealed box..

Any Ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

Depends if yours is Pre-facelift with a real throttle cable or facelift "fly-by-wire".
PF has a module deep inside the ECU box under the bonnet, FL it's just part of the standard engine ECU software so has no separate module.

As ever, always requested, add details of your vehicle to your signature please, it makes answering queries such as this so much easier.

Many thanks HPsource..

Bugger....so no real easy fix then!

Mine is a facelift for fly by wire...

Can anyone recommend a specialist that can take care of this?
What is needed now?
New ECU?

It's just ECU, stalk and wires for FL. If the engine runs it cannot be faulty ECU as it's very unlikely to fail in such a way that car still runs but CC does not work. It's usually just dirty/oxidised contacts in the stalk. Soakong in contact cleaner and exercising vigorously sometimes can bring it back. Cannot remember if there was an option to have D2 without CC so could be ECU coding to enable/disable CC

Check CC is enabled in the ECU coding. Details are on the Ross Tech web site.

It is actually switched on? The slider on the stalk...... (which is also the "increase speed" function)

Could be the slider switch is faulty, depending which switch signals you're seeing. The button on the end is only for "set" and "reduce speed" functions.

And you don't need to be driving to check the switch operation, at least with full VCDS as your OBD tool.

Do you have any error codes? Anything to do with pedals, gearbox, throttle body, missfires or MAF will stop CC from working

Hi All.
So checked with VCDS that all was 'switched on'.
Then watched as I used the switch on stalk.
All good.
However, when you watch closely, there was a 0000 signal between the switching. This could cause the CC to deactivate?

Sprayed contact cleaner in the stalk switch at the same time as switching and pressing all functions...

back to VCDS and did the same switching....hey..well you would not believe....now clean switching with no 0000 signal in between switching.

Road test next...all well..working perfectly.
Many thanks to all.
Cheers.
