Default Recommendation for bluetooth unit for music streaming please

I'm looking to stream music and will need a bluetooth thingy to do this. Does anyone have any recommendations in this direction? I'm actually not bothered about phone, just music streaming!

Ideally I would like it to fit in one of the armrests to keep it out of sight, if possible!

Plus how is this actually outputted (is that a word??) through the RNS-D? I've heard someone using CD 1 for this, which would work for me as my CD changer doesn't work for me!

I have an XCarLink. This one I think:

https://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.p...1&cat=4&page=1

Sound quality is reasonably good although the output seems a little low (I have to turn the RNS-D volume up higher than I do for other sources to get the same level, even with the phone's volume up full). I find it's more than loud enough when turned up though.

The USB socket is for convenience/charging only (not for connecting devices or pen drives) and you don't need to connect the mic if you don't need to use it to make hands-free calls, so you could just hide it away behind the dash if all you need it for is to stream music via Bluetooth.

If I remember correctly, you just unplug one or two of the RNS-D connectors and plug the XCarLink in-between (using the male/female connectors on the supplied wiring harness). To select it on the RNS-D you just choose CD but it is selected alternately so you don't loose the ability to play CDs. So, if the first time you select CD playback your CDs play, cycle through the sources again and the next time you select CD playback you should hear your XCarLink device. Once selected the RNS-D should remember the source so you don't have to keep reselecting it each time.

Probably a bit OTT if that's all you want, but my XCarlink has that capability, though Bluetooth is actually an add-on option to the basic unit.

Edit: I posted at the same time as Mark so didn't see his post. I have a different unit to him, the "full fat" Xcarlink which plays from USB, SD, phono and (optionally) Bluetooth.
It has the same connection method with the flip-flop on the CD. I use my CD changer so I find that really handy.

I don't have Bose but the sound levels are consistent with other inputs so I've never noticed a problem.

I have a Parrot kit (here - https://www.parrot.com/uk/car-kits/p...arrot-mki-9200), which works beautifully, and keeps the full Bose sound quality - which isn't always the case, apparently. Mine routes through the CD input, but as you've noted, that's not an issue for you.

I have the parrot screen on the small trim panel just by the drivers door, which is pretty unobtrusive, but you can choose to have it out of sight instead if you prefer that.

The Dension Gateway is pretty good too. I used Dean's in Big Red when I drove her home, and then swapped it over to his S8. Sound quality is pretty good, and it does hands-free. Plugs in to the CD changer like the others do.

If you get the Parrot, then it's worth making sure it's fitted correctly, otherwise you may not have the Bose connected up properly, and lose the benefits of that.
