Default Component Protection.

Anyone know someone who can code in new parts that have component protection on them?

Does anyone use the VAS 6154 (official VAG scan tool)? Apparently this can do component protection and immobilisers, but it requires a subscription to phone home to the mothership. TPS can quote for the device itself, but have no idea how much the subscription is

Has anyone encountered an aftermarket tool which can do component protection?

I did look into this briefly a while ago and came to the same conclusion about it needing to talk back to Germany. I will dig further as I know it can be done for Mercedes tools so I am hoping there is a solution for VAG

Looking around I have seen people offer PAYG connections for around $20. You need the hardware and to allow teamviewer access

https://www.ctcarsltd.co.uk nearish to heathrow is the last one I used at £36 while I wait. My usual one had gone up from £30 to £75 when I telephoned.
They do not do recoding as part of this, only CP removal from all modules that are in a CP state (so if you are planning any further retrofits you may as well do in one go as the process clears it on every module).
It's a unit on a farm near a Garden centre in a village. Nice setup

Phil Miller and South West Retrofit are the only two people down here that can do CP.

Phil has done all my CP.

You buy Polish built machines (other countries might be available but these are the only ones I know if you want to search for them) that can do it without talking to VAG home.

If you have the VAS system you need to hourly, daily, monthly or yearly subscription to connected to their online services (CP, fault diag, wiring diagrams etc).

If I remember correctly erwin subscription for VAS starts at about 5EUR for 1hr to 2000EUR for year ( prices might have gone up as it was couple of years ago I was checking) and for security access like CP removal and key coding you need additional clearance. For the clearance you need background checks similar like locksmith and a recommendation from dealer/manager. But like already mentioned there are aftermarket tools that can do it without connection to VW but they are not cheap.

Is that limited to one vehicle?
