At my independent Audi garage a good few months back and got talking about the newer Audi's and he mentioned that the new FSI & TFSI engines are pretty poor - known in their circles as F@cking Sh@t Idea.........

Reckons they are pretty unreliable - how true that is I can't comment

All bar the R8 FSI engines are basically a nightmare - most suffer with varnishing of inlets from poor fuel atomisation. Unknown if later cars suffer less, but certainly everything from 2.0T via RS4 suffer badly. Think the newer RS6 is OK (not even sure if that's FSI, mind)

Thats interesting - on my A4 2.0T it suffers from lumpy cold start then very slightly lumpy acceleration now and again. If I was keeping it then I would get it looked into but could be the start of those problems at 75000 miles I guess. I do use super unleaded so I dont know if that would make any difference to either the degree of the symptoms or how many miles into the engine it shows itself.
Its been back and had the inlet manifold replaced under warranty about a year ago too hmmmm. . .
