01E is 830mm total length, 0A3 is 856mm and 5HP24a is 958mm.

On second glance, the 0A3 does have mounting bosses on the side in roughly the same place as the 01E - they're just not used, so you could fabricate mounts to fit the D2 subframe no problem. I presume thats what MRC did when they put one in a B5.

That conversion piece for the prop I linked to earlier does not look 128mm long so probably won't work for us. I may email the seller and ask though. Could be we could get a custom batch made up for us if a few people are in. It might work for an 0A3 though, which would be ironic

i think i understand it now there is a spur gear drive on the front & rear output out of the gearbox so although the rear diff is 4.111 the the actual diff ratio the gearbox produces is 3.726 for the rear and 3.730 front this complicates the gearbox choice further. so the gear charts need reproducing with 3.726 ratio.

So any calculations for the 5HP24a have to take in to account the spur gears as well. Interesting.

Changing the spreadsheet to 3.73 makes 5th in the FBG identical to 6th in the DGV.

That shouldn't affect manual gearbox choice though. A 4.111 rear diff with the 5HP24 is still valid for a 4.111 01E, since its the internals of the 5HP24 which monkey around with the figures (if I'm understanding the data correctly).

Hi there. I also have ambitions of converting my S8 D2 to a manual. Reading this thread has made me realise far more of an experimental task than I'd realised. Has anyone had any progress/success since March?

Cheers
