Default Selling cars on forum

Would be great if adds could be viewed by not registered indv.
That would increase a chance of a sale.
Forum asks for log in after second attempt.
Was trying to recomend a car few times to a friend but they couldn't view it
What do we think?

Anyone worth their salt that would end up buying and is serious should be registered anyway to research the cars and what to expect anyway, just like I did.

It's a (free) A8 owners forum run by a Audi online spare parts retailer. Why would it make sense to allow/encourage sale of cars which aren't being sold by forum owners?

My thoughts are that a more open approach to much of the forums may drive more traffic, more members and possibly more business for the sponsors. The downside is more traffic would add load which may impact cost, but in today's market I suspect that shouldn't be the case!?

I think what Borys is getting it is that if you are not logged in then you cannot access the for sale boards. This also means that the cars for sale are also not indexed by Google, so if you searched on Google for Audi A8 for sale then you'd get no results from this forum.

You would still need to be registered to sell just as you are now, and post replies and respond to adverts. Removing the block on being registered would open up more potential buyers simply using google to find a car for sale.

And what's the first thing a new A8 owner is likely to want. Parts. So, if they find their beauty on here, they now realise this is the place to find like minded people, and spares.
BORYS is on the money with his idea

I believe this affects more than the for sale section, when I have cross-posted from other forums people can't see the post unless they sign up....

Guys this is more about checking who signs up and making sure they are genuine so that we can keep spam off the forum. We suffered very badly with this until this policy was changed and if somebody is selling on the forum then it really is only to reach forum members, many people posting cars for sale also place them on eBay, Auto trader etc and so they can also be viewed elsewhere by many others. Believe me, if you saw the amount of spam we used to get and have to try and keep deleted, then you would understand why we get new applications to join the forum and also remove any members who are found to be spammers after they may have got through the initial vetting
