OK, I am dealing with the guy as we speak, so far price including delivery to UK for 4x S8 grills is 1460.90 Euro, that is around £1225, £310 each

That's base on xe.com which isn't the same rate what bank will charge me.

I think it will still be around £320-£325 each, I will send a picture of bank statement with they rate and total paid if this sale will go ahead.

S8 mirror covers only ???? Not sure why what how, but still dealing with him.

I also enquired for S8 front bumper primed, new, 430Euro --> £360

Here is my personal understanding, feel free to do your own research:

If a Uk VAT Registered company gives their VAT number to an EU VAT registered company, then the goods can be supplied to the UK business without VAT added. Its quite common in the rest of the EU, where in the UK we are more used to just paying the VAT and 'claiming it back' on the next VAT return. Its swings and roundabouts, but artificially inflates UK turnover I guess.

If a business sells goods without VAT to another EU VAT registered business then the selling company usually has to fill in a form to declare which goods were exported with no VAT on them, including the company details of who it was supplied to, and the value. Its called and EC Sales list here in the UK.

When you've gone to the trouble of buying the goods zero vat rated from Germany with the VAT number of a UK company, then the goods must be the property of the UK company.

At that point, when/if the goods are sold on to an individual for their use then they are subject to UK VAT at 20%.

If Germanys VAT rate is 19%, you are better off paying that, rather than the 20% you would have to pay to the UK company you buy the goods off.

If theoretically you were somehow 'just using' a UK Vat number to get the goods discounted and shipped straight to you as an individual, then that is a can of worms which doesnt sound legal from any angle. The company that is supplying the goods should verify the VAT number against the central VAT database to verify the company they are supplying to. They are only relived of their VAT responsibilities for that sale if they can prove they supplied the goods to a valid company which is exempt, i.e, another EU company or outside the EU. Tracking information for the shipment should provide this level of evidence if they were investigated.

In Poland, its quite plausible that visitors from non-eu countries could buy goods tax free. If it was administered incorrectly and they allowed EU residents to avoid tax, then thats another can of worms.

Bottom line. I believe If you are not a VAT registered business, and you are buying these type of goods from anywhere inside the EU for personal use inside the EU then VAT is applicable at the prevailing rate of the country you pay the VAT in.

I dont get the impression you are intentionally avoiding VAT, but maybe the full ins and outs of EU vat processing between member countries is more complicated than people first appreciate and dont want to leave anyone reading this thread with the impression that there is some huge loophole they're missing out on.

Trust me, the VAT man has it all stitched up.. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.....

All you said is true.
But I won't be bulls**ting you, my mate is allowing me to use his company info to purchase VAT free bits from Germany for my own use.
My understanding was pretty close to what you said, forms etc and yes, it may not be the most legit way if you look at this from your perspective, but there is a question of investigating individual items and executing possible charges.
And because of that I wont be offering any discounts to anyone anymore just to keep this forum worms free.
I will just get the grills for guys because I offered it to them already and thats it.

Please do accept my apologies.

Hi boys

UPDATE
If you want a tracking number please PM so you know when they will be coming.

Now, after increased postage and currency fee the total bill per person is £321

Nolly, north west London, Oli, south west London - you could collect the grills in person to be honest, I'm in south east London so it kind of make sense.
To be honest any time any day, I dont go sleep until midnight or 1am

But, the postage option:
UPS Standard Next Day - around £9 (uninsured, don't know if that is really needed as UPS is pretty good)
Insured UPS is over £20, close to £25 when insured for £325

Will post a picture of all grills as soon they arrive and they I will send payment options.

Ta
