98 A8 won't accept transmission recoding

My mechanic is trying to recode my US 98 A8 tranny but he's telling me it won't accept any codes but the stock 00002 code. I'm trying specifically to get 00012 on there from audipages.com. Anyone know if this is the right code of if there is a different one which may work?
