Default Detail added!

All,

Car is now home and sorted so time to add the detail, pictures will follow at the weekend.

Summary
- Black with Cream Leather interior Audi A8L D3, 4.2TDi
- 104k miles (ignore thread title, thought it was 106k)
- Full extensive service history with "big" service completed in March at approximately 99k miles)
- Just back from garage with new KESSY fitted and drain holes drilled out, cleared etc. to stop water ingress (common issue which i was informed had been done prevoiusly!)
- Exterior condition is excellent for age - The only marks are right at the back where the boot lid has the standard bubbled paint above the number plate and it's also scuffed a pole at some point so marks on bumper (pics to follow)
- Interior condition is excellent with the only mark being on the drivers side B pillar where there is some fraying (again pics will follow)

Spec
I hunted for a while to find a car with a high spec, decent mileage, FSH and when this one popped up i paid a premium for it.
- Bang and Olufsen Stereo
- MMI including Navigation (pop up screen), DAB Radio etc.
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Electric, Heated and Cooled Massage Seats front and back
- Memory seats in front with memory settings for driver also controlling mirrors and steering wheel
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Heat Insulated Double Glazed Windows
- Solar Sunroof
- Electric Rear Window Blind
- Electric Rear Door Blinds - These are currently coded out as when put back on they were constantly going up and down, i've now realised this is very likely the switch unit on the roof at fault so probably an easy/cheap fix)
- Quad Zone Climate Control
- Extended Leather Pack with Comfort Plus seats

"Bad Bits"
- As stated above there is a scuff on the rear bumper and the bubbled paint on the boot
- At certain frequencies there is a little distortion on the stereo, coming from the front centre, bit of research implies front centre speaker and found a thread on here recently of someone replacing - not a constant issue, just sometimes
- The car has soft close on all doors but only the rear drivers door works
- The car has a power boot, for opening if you start it by an inch it then does the remainder itself, for closing if you press the button it closes over but doesn't "catch" so then the right hand side pops up a little (where the motor is) - believe this is likely the latch motor

Car drives beautifully, suspension responds to changes in settings and raises / lowers quickly and light then goes out. The 4.2TDi (imo) suits the car perfectly with loads of torque, a decent noise (for an oil burner!) and the ability to waft along perfectly! I get 32/33mpg average with mixed driving and on a few longer trips have managed 43/44mpg although i would admit it was a specific exercise to see how high i could get!

I'm struggling to put a price on it as i paid a premium for the spec, mileage and between the big service and the KESSY have put some money into the car, however appreciate that doesn't mean anything for cars. Based on other cars for sale just now i'm looking for £8500 for a quick sale.

I'm based in the South Side of Glasgow and would be happy to meet anyone at train station/airport.

Thanks,
Chris

When you say drain holes drilled and cleared is that for the keyless entry ?

Thanks "Homer".... i bought it with intention of getting everything back to perfect but a hectic work schedule and too many hobbies mean i've just not got round to it. Tidying up the boot / bumper would get it aesthetically near to perfect, sorting the boot/rear blinds would complete the picture... my calculations of options takes it to c£100k list price... it certainly drives like it, never yet had someone that's been in it that hasn't been amazed and the lack of noise, amazing comfort and the gadgets!

Simon - I believe the issue is the scuttle drain blocks up, leading to water ingress that pools in the footwells... poor design arguably but the kessy unit and a few other components sit in the passenger footwell so often end up frying them! It's an expensive bill (4 figures!) so for anyone with an A8 i'd ensure that the suggested modification on the drains being drilled out (believe it's both in the scuttle panel and in the footwell but don't quote me as didn't do it personally!) is completed to save the future issue.

Will get the pictures up this weekend and hopefully it'll be off to a new home soon..... seeing as i've already bought it's replacement ;-)

Default Initial pictures..

The Scottish weather isn't being cooperative so unfortunately haven't been able to get proper pictures. Here is a few showing general car and mainly focusing on the points on boot/bumper and c pillar I mentioned.

Hopefully tomorrow will be nicer and I can get proper pictures!

Nice spec car.....

Quite original looking too. DAB is a retrofit by the looks of it, but nothing to worry about. It has soft close too, but likely by that age all the doors aren't working properly.

Good colour combo, also has heated windscreen.

I suspect to command a premium, it would just need some of niggles sorting, as the LWB, non sport version is hard to shift sometimes. Location is going to make it more tricky too.

I think the honesty is going to be well received by folks on here, but that B pillar trim does look quite bad for its age/mileage. Makes me instantly think its done lots and lots of short journeys for its miles.

£8500 does seem a bit optimistic, but you never know, you only need one guy who wants a V8 tdi limo with a top spec, and he's got little else to choose from.

Thanks IT.

For the DAB, it's original but I added the aerial due to the original rear screen aerial not working very well, the signal was constantly cutting out.

On the B pillar (sorry thought it was C) I had the car a few weeks before I realised bizarrely, the seats / steering wheel don't have the same wear so unsure what's happened to it.

As for the honesty, I change cars more than makes sense and no point trying to hide things, especially with a niche car that you could get someone traveling for, nothing worse than a wasted 5 hour journey, speaking from experience.

Lastly, price wise not desperate to sell but equally the market will dictate the price I'm sure, equally for the right offer I'd be willing to share travel, I picked the car up from Southampton and let's not mention picking up a caged and bucket seated GT3 from London 48 hours after my vasectomy, so I'm no stranger to traveling for the right car :-)

Hopefully get better pictures up soon.
Chris
