Default bad vibration

dont no if this is the right section to put this in but here goes
when i put the car in to drive i get a realy bad vibration coming from all over the centre console where the gear lever is,with my foot pressing the brake,if i put it into neutral it goes off all while standing still,i can also feel it while traveling when i accelerate but not as bad any ideas guys

Has the engine management light come on?
Can you do a VCDS scan?

2003 2.8 A8SQ - powder blueish. Fill in for a while. Sold on.
1998 1.8T A4 Avant FWD. Ming Blue (there's a theme here), PEX for the 97 S8.
And a list of non VAG going back 40 years before I saw the light.

yer light is on thought it was afaulty cat it seems to get worse when i press the brake pedal

I'm thinking faulty ABS. Can you feel the vibration through the brake peddle?

If the ABS control module is getting duff information from the speed sensors at the wheels it may be operating the ABS. Without looking I'm only surmising that what your feeling is the pulsing of the brakes because the ABS is operating. Can you do a Vagcom scan? An output test on the ABS module would help.

If not try removing the ABS sensors and giving them a good clean.

I could of course be miles out as..................................

I'd have the gearbox/engine mounts checked as well...

I agree with psyche. Does the gearbox output shaft seal leak and how high is the mileage? Could even be wear in the gearbox main shaft bearings or propshaft joints but that would have got worse more gradually. Did it start suddenly or grow?

had a recon on the gearbox 12 months ago so iam hoping it wouldnt go that quickly,funny thing happened last night the esp light kept flickering on and off does this indicate an abs fault,and were would i find the abs sensors if so to clean them cheers nick
