Default BEM component protection ?

So, easy question..

Does the Battery/Energy management ecu have component protection ? Wondering if I should try a newer/used one from ebay to see if it helps on my random power saving «cuts» and mmi 10% warnings.. 2006 3.0tdi.

No it doesn’t- If you have the VW software /hardware there’s even a switch over procedure to transfer settings to the replacement module.

I meant VAS-PC, i just couldn’t remember the name of it. it’s not essential to do this as VCDS will let you add in the battery serial number coding manually anyway

Check the SW version. I saw a 2009 one on ebay and what I think is the software version on the label (055 IIRC) was the same as my 2006. While there are later versions available than what is on these, I think it was installed by workshops.
Having said that I just remembered my BEM was replaced under warranty during the original owner's reign so could be 2007 or 2008 BEM.

I’m almost sure my 06 has the most recent software, I just suspect it’s not working properly for some reason..
