The ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within the same area as the current Congestion Charging Zone (CCZ), and comes into force in September 2020.

The ULEZ standards are in addition to
a) the Congestion Charge and
b) the Low Emission Zone requirements.

Geez!

Now it'll be interesting to see what the soot chuckers are throwing out the pipes. Better or worse than an S?

Did you know, Ulez (with slightly different pronounciation) means 'intruder' in Serbian.
Now is that an amazing coincidence or what!

Thread revival.

Well it's now in force, at least in the Congestion Zone area.

I've never even taken my S8 into the Congestion Zone but I'm now very tempted to do so one weekend just for the hell of it!

but when I checked mine it passes!

Green AUDI S8 4.2 QUATTRO AUTO

No ULEZ charge due for this vehicle

This vehicle meets the emission standards for ULEZ so you don't have to pay this charge when driving within the zone.

No LEZ charge due for this vehicle

This vehicle either meets the required emission standards, is exempt from the scheme or is subject to a 100% discount.

Has anyone else checked their D2 S8?

Yep, mine apparently still passes too.

I'm tempted to take a detour through London some time too, just for the hell of it, especially while I presently have a ridiculously loud exhaust. The sound of my big V8 loudly resonating through the ULEZ zone feels irresistibly inappropriate

The FL2 S8 is Euro 4 compliant, three years ahead of time. I think FL1 is Euro 3 though so they might not be exempt.

Rather comically, the only changes I can discover between Euro 3 and Euro 4, from a D2 perspective, is individual control of the variable cam timing (FL1 controls them both simultaneously), and a warning light when the secondary air system is faulty (FL1 logs a fault but no light). The engines are mechanically and electrically identical - its purely software.

Sorry MJ, can you explain what you mean by FL1 and FL2 please?

FL1 is the first facelift for 1999 and 2000 model years. That had the two-piece foglight grilles, and Bosch ME7.1 engine management. S8 engine code is AQH.

FL2 is 2001 and 2002 model years (and the few 2003 registrations). That had one-piece foglight grilles and Bosch ME7.1.1 engine management. S8 engine code is AVP.

The change from ME7.1 to ME7.1.1 is what makes the 2001 and 2002 cars Euro 4.

Excellent info as ever, many thanks.
Mine is one of those rare 2003 registrations, though built in 2002.
