Have you not put in a claim for whiplash Sergey?
While I certainly wouldn't condone false injury claims, an impact that was great enough to propel your car forwards like that is likely to given you some whiplash. When my previous 8 was rear-ended in similar circumstances (hit by a moving vehicle while stationary), several days later I developed a slightly stiff and 'creaky' neck but thought nothing of it until the solicitor dealing with my case asked me if I had suffered from whiplash, describing my symptoms exactly. Apparently it's common for symptoms to take days (or even weeks) to develop. He sent me to a specialist physio/doctor who confirmed it was whiplash. Even now (10+ years later), I still have mild whiplash symptoms that I never had before the accident. While you can't put a price on your health, and money won't fix any damage caused by whiplash, if there's any chance you have been injured, you deserve to be compensated.

Speaking from experience, I know exactly how debilitating a whiplash injury can be. In 1994, I was rear-ended by a Ford Transit whilst sitting at a roundabout junction, waiting to join it. The Transit had been sitting stationary behind me as well, until he saw a gap in the traffic that he assumed I would go for, and promptly drove into me. That's all it took! Because of the way the junction was constructed, you literally have to look over your shoulder to see what's on the roundabout. I wasn't in any pain that day, or even the week or two after that, but after about a month I was starting to feel it. I was eventually diagnosed with two prolapsed discs, and to this day, still suffer with it, anywhere from one to five days in duration. I have literally spent thousands of pounds on every sort of treatment I can find, but to no avail, and all because the injury was never treated at the time. It's one of the reasons that I always suggest people seek treatment for any injury they have, in order to try and rule out any long term effects of it.

Sound advice there re: whiplash injury.
We were driven into head-on whilst stopped and though I was good Gwen suffered for the rest of her life with her neck and spine. Seems that all you can do is grin and bear the pain days. Unfortunately Gwen also suffered psychologically and received treatment for that as well as the physical problems. She became the world's worst passenger, all our cars had a depression in the passenger footwell from here brake applications. It took nearly a year before she could drive again.

I had similar issues dealing with someone acting as a 3rd party accident management co on behalf of the numpty that drove into the S5. I decided to go through my own insurer in the end. it is clear the 3rd party agent's main interest is in keeping the total bill down. You can still do the same. Tell your insurer they are messing you about, with the top end valuation they've given you so far. Ask what they can do. My bet is that the salvage buy back figure will be way lower, but you still get your £8k valuation. Don't forget where there is no question of liability on you, your insurer will be quite happy to look after you, knowing they can simply send the bill to the 3rd party and it will have to be paid, assuming no questionable costs for credit hire cars..... On your question a couple of pages back if I'd go back to a D2, I don't know if I could answer to be honest. I loved my S8, and I knew it pretty well. If I bought another I'd always be comparing it to that, but since the main reason for selling it was that it just wasn't practical for the kind of use I needed a car for, I can't imagine a circumstance where a D2 S8 was the answer to the question. if I had another big Audi I suspect a C7 S6 or RS6 would feature higher up the wish list, because it does load lugging of the kind I need a big car for. The S5 just about does that now. I have a classic (bizarrely in this case the 2nd example of the type I've owned, but the 1st was a bit of a dog!) which lives down at my parents. I use it once every couple of years, for a couple of months over the summer, and then put it away again. I really don't know why I keep hold of it! My dad asked if I was considering selling it, but at the moment I can't bring myself to. The advantage of that car is it's half the size of a D2, so garaging isn't such a problem, and aside from a cambelt every 5 years and getting stuff to work 20+ years after most were scrapped, it's relatively painless to own. It is, however, a hatchback, which means I can use it at weekends for lugging my hobby stuff about. If I had a barn to store a selection of cars in, all in working order, all legal to use on a whim, I'd definitely have another (lottery garage territory)

Current negotiating position with 3rd party insurer Covea remains.
£8k value, with a salvage amount of 31%, £2480. I called my insurer Aviva and they confirmed that it's normal practice to split 31% as scrap value if total valuation is £8k. (Aviva's would split between 25% and 28% in this situation though) I'm inclined to leave D2 world for now due to lack of time to look after these lovely cars properly. Q: Does anybody want this car for £2480 for parts (minus the number plate)? It's fully drivable. My default position now is to take £8k and scrap the car. If no one is interested, I'll strip all 'low hanging fruit' before scrapping of course. The car now belongs to Mike, the Librarian.
Who has heroically collected it with all spare parts from me too. Hopefully he’ll have enough nerve and tenacity to restore it. I’ll be looking for new family car for long journeys. Comparing new with used. Thinking of: Audi Q3 model 2019 Porsche Cayenne 3 years old Porsche Macan 3 years old Only Petrol models and only with ACC. Suggest please cars with very reliable engines and gearboxes suitable for long term ownership. Will greatly appreciate all your advices
