I went for the Toadtrak at £250, plus lifetime subscription for £250, inspection was done today, mostly good, no big concerns but enough for me to get another £250 off the price, pick it up on Friday

How does tracker work? Does it use "cell phone" with SIM card to actually SMS GPS location, etc. when it thinks car has been stolen? Or does it use some private radio nationwide network ?

I thought if crooks seriously steal a car they bring a jammer device which kills all radio reception 100 meters around the car. They don't switch off the damn thing until they put the car into garage and remove the tracker or actually break the car into parts... Radio jammer cost nothing these days.

just found this Sergey

"TRACKER Locate utilises GSM, GPS and VHF technology to provide three means of location and also two means of communication.

Jamming counter measures are a key feature of TRACKER Locate and the system will detect if a thief attempts to block either VHF, GSM or the GPS signals. TRACKER Locate will then use an alternative communication channel to continue to provide location information of the stolen vehicle. By using a combination of these technologies, TRACKER Locate provides tracking throughout the UK and Europe"

cheers

Brian

Hi Brian,

Sure thing tracker will know immediately that something is going on. But how does it send information if everything is jammed?

I'm sure there are lots of locations in UK and Europe like underground parkings where there's no GSM, GPS and VHF reception. Does it mean car is automatically reported as stolen? From tracker system point of view underground parking and jammer are the same things: there's no connection between car and "control room"...

Just sitting here contemplating
