Default Cool or Not?

Triumph Dolomite 1850HL

Mine was this classic Triumph blue and had overdrive on 3rd/4th which was great.

And it was almost as fast as the Sprint without being whatever that was......

Sprint = 16 Valves I believe, and the build quality of BLMC, but a star in its day

Something abbout 70's & 80's BL stuff - always made badly and never quite looked right, but they, for me anywho, have something

Yep, Sprint had 16V all driven off a single camshaft think it's the only 4 valve per cylinder car to be designed like that? Lovely car in its day, aside from tin worm and insanely poor build quality of the period.

Don't see this as cool though - the Triumph 2000 series on the other hand.....2500PI mainly

1850 was exactly the same engine, just a tad less cylinder capacity.
As it was slightly "detuned" it was actually a more flexible engine with more power at lower revs so easier to drive.

And yes, I would have loved a 2500PI.

my first car was a 1972 Triumph 1500, which looked quite similar, but was front wheel drive.

I'll dig out some pics sooner or later

There was also the cheaper RWD Toledo (1300cc mostly) alongside the 1500, I recall driving around Scotland in a hired one for a couple of weeks.
