Default Twin Tone Horns

Anyone know how much current the two tone horns use?
I'm thinhking of fitting a obnoxiously loud get out of my way air horn that needs 9 Amps.

I suppose we could look at the current in the Battery Energy Manager with VCDS and then press the horn and see what the change in Amps is.

I had the idea of putting an ammeter in the circuit but realised to get an accurate reading I'd have to seriously annoy the neighbours.
And the the reason I'm thinking of this is that my Audi horns are a bit pathetic. Don't go with the car.
I'm looking at a claimed 150db air horn.

That is the problem.
They are supplied via a relay, and I can't locate where the supply to the relay comes from.

I would like to know where the little box with 253 in it gets the supply.
I found a 150Amp fuse that also seems to feed a little box with 253 in it.
But I cannot beleive that.

Sorry Ray, not got a D3 to play with, but the D4 has a 15A fuse marked horn

You know what Ray, a lot of these 12v airhorns I have seen have a bit of a delay and a lead in to full sound - as there is no air tank, you have to wait 0.5s for the pressure to build up. I wonder if you could use the air suspension

Or what about sythesised airhorn like the emergency services use?
I have got a spare able2 shome if you want it for nothing, but it needs a 100w sounder which is £36 on ebay/aliepress...

Paul, That sounds like it. 15Amp is what I would have thought so I should be able to disconnect the Audi horns and connect the air horn instead.

Snap, Now that is another idea. Do you have a link for the sounder?

I'm off to Torquay in the morning for a five day tour so no panic.

I had a synthesised 'horn' that I fitted to one of my first cars, back in the late 80's. It was in addition to the regular horn and really just for novelty value and comic effect but it was quite loud. It comprised of a sound generator (with about 8 different buttons/sounds), an audio amp and a weatherproof speaker under the bonnet. It had air horn sounds and sirens but I think the phaser sound was what I (and my college mate) used most.

I've made similar sound generators over the years for various things, most recently a steam train whistle for one of my customer's garden centre displays. It's quite inexpensive to knock a synthesised sound generator together, especially these days with the all the readily available electronic modules from China. You just need to find a generator module that makes the sound you want (or you can use an 'mp3 module' that will play a recorded sound), an amplifier and a speaker.

A horn speaker would probably work best for a car, such as these for example:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eagle-15W...r/232578273146

Cheap mono amp modules are easy to come by. Something like this should work well:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TDA2030A-...d/292583332964

Then you just need to find the right sound(s). How about a fog horn?

Edit: I could let you have an mp3 player module if you need one Ray, complete with this steam train whistle if you like

Thanks Mark, you did some research there.
The steam whistle is mega, suits me no end.
I'm staying at The Headland Hotel in Torquay until Friday.
Saw a Grey A8 on the M5 south of Cribb's Causeway, just about where I saw him a fortnight back.
Yesterday was rather hard. It was Craig's Birthday exactly one month after Gwen passed. We both struggled. OK now.
I'm putting my passengers on the Paignton steam train tomorrow, hoping I can ride with them.
