Default Coil Pack Recall

Hi There,

Due to working through the ignition system as LPG is really picky and throws up missfires, I went to get some new Coil Packs (already done spark plugs) and got told that my 2005 A8 PF still qualified for the Coil Pack Recall and it hadn't been done. So i booked it into Audi Huntingdon as they're more local to work and easier to get to than Peterborough for me.

Was there about 3hrs all told. They cleaned the car and vaccumed it and did a visual inspection that seemed to take ages and then I had an appologetic service manager saying that they had ordered the wrong coil packs in for the car and that there is a difference in types for the A8.....So back I go again next week for the actual swap. Gave me a free Audi Collection A8 posh key ring and I got a nice coffee and some yummy choc chip cookies, so not all bad!

However you'd have thought that Audi should know which coil packs to order!?!?!?

Lee

That is slightly annoying! Flipping main dealers.

Oh dear.... that's the problem with anything main dealer these days.

There is no actually technical excellence, skill or expertise involved; everyone is just trained to do what the computer tells them without thought or question.

So likelihood is they spent two hours 45 minutes looking utterly bloody baffled because the computer says these should fit before someone with the authority to think for themselves told them it wouldn't and they thought, sh1t, we've got 15 mins - better give this a wash or something and make it look like we've done stuff!

Mine went in for the check on coil packs, were fine though so no swap needed. They washed the car, and actually made it worse! I had to re wash it when i got home. Never again will i let them wash my motor.

Hi There,

Second go and they replaced 3 coil packs. If they told me they were going to do this, they'd have gotten a sale for the other 5....As it was because they'd checked how many, they didn't order in all 8 and i'm waiting for 2 extra that i'll fit as I still have a couple of missfire issues ocasionally on a couple of cylinders!

I do wonder at the merrit of getting the last 3 and fitting them as well though. £120 for piece of mind....
