Default S8 Suspension Control Arm ???

Hi There,

Looks like my suspension front control arm has gone. Really nasty clunking sound when running arround as the rubber bushes have perished.

I've been searching for parts and have come up with a code of 4d0-407-151-Q acording to my ETKA.

However searching, the Q seems to bring up very little. P however appears to be a whole host of Audi's, including the A8.

There is an ebay listing here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A8-CONTRO...item29fef37f0d

Which is German made, £36, however it specs not S8 Quatro.

Searching on here brings up Meyle as recomended, The Q gets nothing there, but P brings up a part with .pdf that lists lots of A8s but not the S - http://www.meyle.com/EN/Spare-parts/...&searchFilter=

Any ideas, comments, help, recomendations or whatever

Thanks,
Lee - Seeming to be rebuilding his s8 one piece at a time...

I'm pretty sure the arms are the same for the A and S but i'm not 100% sure i replaced all 8 on my A8 with a cheap set from ebay, as at the time i was unsure how long the car / gearbox would last.

I think Conan has replaced his on the S with the Meyle arms.

Hi Dezzy,

You don't recall what kit/seller you got as i have seen a few of those and am tempted with affordable parts.

I don't want to go down the second hand route as rubber perishes, so it seems false economy. A lot of the ebay ones look good german quality. How did you find it ???

Ta,
Lee

Hi Dezzy,

Doing a search on that name and audi suspension brings up a few bits, including a set of arms - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A8-FRONT-...item359a416f60

Blots - I guess you mean Bolts ???

Shame they don't come with them as a lot of european kits do....There are even a few on sale in the US, but made in Germany, Uprated and reasonable...No Idea how you'd get one direct from Germany though, which would be cheaper shipping and no import duty etc !

Oh Wow....Using the skoda part no. for that usa/german kit (8D0 498 998S1)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-PASSAT-3B-A...item2a07be2535

Looks like it would be about £120 from Germany, no vat/import as EU and it included track rods and screws -

2 piece coupling rod
2 piece tie rod ends
2 piece front upper wishbone
2 piece rear top wishbone
2 piece front lower control arm
2 piece rear lower control arms
A complete set of screws

I love google translate

Just been looking again and come across this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-Front-Sus...item414ee1d565

Just thinking would this effectivly re-work the old armatures - A block of aluminium is just aluminium after all ??? and would potentialy improve the cars sepc too

They also do 80 hardness slightly cheaper !

Ha Ha yeah i mean Bolts mate. I replaced the bottom bolts and nuts first cos you gotta cut them out, unless you drop the sub frame. And the top pinch bolts i replaced a bit later when i had the passenger well become floppy. So replace these with the arms / bushes what ever way you go they aren't too bad a price from Audi.

I like the look of those bushes, though i don't have a press
