Default D3 A8/S8 recalled for glass sunroof issue

Dropped my car off at Chelmsford Audi this morning to have the rear pads changed (I love fixed price servicing ) and they advised that a recall is active for A8/S8s built between April 2007 and June 2008 equipped with sunroof (glass or solar).

They quote 4-5 hours to do the work as it involves removing all the sunroof gubbings, drying everything out and rebonding it.

This is what I could find online:
"Audi is recalling approximately 536 A8 and S8 sedans built between 2007 and 2008, because the sunroof glass might possibly detach while the car is in motion.

According to the Audi, the cars being recalled may have a glass panel that is insufficiently bonded to the sliding sunroof frame due to a manufacturing fault.

Audi told federal safety regulators in the US that it had already received a number of "field complaints" regarding this issue.

"If the glass detaches from the sunroof frame, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash," stated the NHTSA in their recall summary.

Currently, Audi spokespersons have yet to say if there have been any crashes or injuries of any kind related to this recall. Regardless, Audi A8 and S8 owners should make their way to a dealership as soon as possible in order to get the issue sorted out.

With the recall expected to begin sometime this month, Audi has already informed the public that the fix will include them installing additional adhesive between the sunroof glass and the frame, free of charge."

The recall code is '60C3' should any owners want to contact Audi to get their car in.

Well finally some good service from Essex/Chelmsford Audi. Because they haven't done this particular recall before, the sealant/bonding they have is not sufficient and they have to order the appropriate one in for next week which means they will have my car all weekend.

The upshot is I now have a brand spanking new A8 to use until mine is done, whenever that may be

Nice !!! I'm lucky if I get an A6, but normally it's an A4 for my courtesy cars.

No ceramics here, although if I search for an S8 again I wouldn't be put off by ceramics. Naturally they aren't included in the fixed prices

And there's no chance I'll be swapping it for a soot chucker! Unless that particular diesel was the Q7 V12 TDI

That's why I was asking, couldn't remember if you had them, prices for pads to match the ceramics is eye watering.

Well done on snagging an 8 as a replacement.

Letter received today. I must have just timed it right when I booked my car in for the brakes before the recall letters went out to owners.

Default Solar or glass

Anybody know if this is specific to solar sunroofs or are glass roofs included.
Online search wasn't conclusive.
