Sounds like it could be a gearbox related problem...Possibly torque convertor

No harm in cleaning the ABS Sensors to eliminate as a possible cause....

Easy DIY..... http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...eshooting.html

But I somehow don't think that is the issue by the Symptoms described...

There is also a Campaign on the box lever bracket.... mine was replaced 3
months ago..... Worth checking with your local Agent

I'll start with the ABS and see if anything changes.

I hope you're wrong on that one.
It's not a big vibration but a noticable one which has appeared over the last few weeks. Very annoying.

Thanks guys

Perhaps a long shot, but relaively easy to check and fix - power steering pump filter? When mine went it had similar symptoms (unfortunately the whole pump was duff, but many folk get away with an oil change and filter clean). Mine made a noise and vibration, worst in reverse, and I thought it was the gearbox. Slip the filter out and see if it's blocked as a first attempt.

where is this filter? is it just in the bottle neck? figure I can have a look if it's a 2 minute job, mine makes no undue squeeks or vibes but prevention is better than cure

Ford Capri Laser: noisy, slow, thirsty, bouncy, no buttons but it always sounds like it’s REALLY trying and I can’t help but chuckle when it parps and boings along. And people of a certain age stare at it with a wistful look in their eyes that clearly says…I had one of them. And I sold it because of the kids

Yep... Take the cap off, and then the filter pulls out. Clean filter should be shiny, mine was pretty black on my PF and it made a scary noise when you had a good bit of right lock. Cleaned the filter and it sorted itself out.
