headrests
howdy ya´ll, are the headrests mechanically operated?
if so, they are busted. i can´t get them up. this is the first time i have tried, since i bought the beast in 2008. |

The front headrests?
On my car I lift this button to raise them; push it down to lower them:

There is a long cable that goes from the motor to a gearbox on the headrests. There is a plastic sleeve that goes around the long cable. Same setup is for the lumbar. The repair is to cut the sleeve about 5-15mm shorter so that it connects to both the motor and headrest gear box again. I had to fix all 4 seats on my a8 as nothing worked. To test, see if you can hear a motor running when you press the buttons. I also did a write up on it on my build thread.
