It may take me a while finding it myself, as I'm subscribed to 627 threads, of which 146 are in the D2 section! ...wish me luck.

I've got something useful for someone with the right skills to design - a D2 fitment double DIN surround and a D2 RNS-E surround.
Dont want one myself just yet, but may very well in the future.

I was listening to a podcast about NASA using SLM for "printing" metal - Selective Laser Melting. They've been testing rocket parts (pipe fittings mostly) made this way to see how they stand up to the extremes of temperature and pressure in a rocket motor.
This kind of thing is amazing!

I can print one in wood if you like, or marble-effect

That's on the list - surface finish is the challenge again on that one, but if its flat and can be sanded then painting that will be easier.

Koenigsegg print the One:1's turbocharger: https://youtu.be/DNedUZxP8NU

At 2:40 you can just see the printed structure in the surface finish. I believed this is SLS - Selective Laser Sintering, although looking at the finish it could well be SLM which gives a tighter grain structure.

At the Autosport Engineering show in January there is usually a company 3D printing snail shells from titanium, just to show off the tech.

I think that Navi Knopf model is close to the D2 menu knob but a little tall. I'll have a tinker with it and see what I can make of it

Didn't like the knopf so I made a new one.

I'm not near the car at the moment. Is the real one tapered slightly or parallel?

Made a tapered version which is slightly more asthetically pleasing:

Side note: this stuff is considerably more satisfying than my proper job

This model is solid underneath for maximum strength. The mounting hole is 6mm, exactlythe same diameter as the switch shaft. Two printed parts of 6mm ID and OD will lock together because of the layered nature of the process. I'll find out how printed vs moulded interact tomorrow when I get home and print one
