VAS5054 - any advantages over VCDS?

I already have VCDS (aka VagCom) and was wondering what advantages something like VAS5054 may hold over & above VCDS if any?

And what are the differences between the various flavours of VAS such as 5051, 5052, 5054 etc. and how to ensure the latest & greatest versions please?

Also been looking to get hold of the latest ElsaWin & ETKA but looking at eBay it seems to be a minefield out there...any recommendations on what exactly I need for the latest & greatest versions that actually work please?
