I seem to recall that you can call Audi and they'll give it to you if you have the right documentation

Default Positive Scots, negative English... ;-)

My experience:

Lost my code for the Audi-fitted stereo in my last A8. Rang the local stealer and they wanted the old girl up on the ramps for 1/2 an hour - £80.

Called Loch Lomond Audi (original supplying dealer, info gleaned from copious documentation supplied with the car) and they said that they always took the info out of the supplied manual and stuck the sticky label in the boot in the spare wheel well area. No charge.

Suffice to say, I wrote a praiseworthy email to the manager commending them on their foresight. Not sure if this is standard behaviour though for all Audi places though.
