Default A8 Parts Open Day

Cancelled from last year due to the relocation of A8Parts, a date has now been set for an open day to see the work and facilities of our forum sponsor.

The date is the 22nd April 2012 at their new facilities in Eaglescliffe, Teeside.

There will be the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the staff, see an A8 being dismantled (subject to availability) food and drink, a raffle with some exciting prizes (Stainless Steel Quad Exhaust is one)

More details to follow, but put the 22nd April in your diaries.

If you think you might be attending please put your names below.

Will there be discounts on the day and maybe clearance sale for low demand parts?

Amongst other things some of the highlights of the day will be:

- 50% discount on the day for forum members (subject to a maximum discount of £500)

- Air Con Re-gas available, heavily discounted for forum members

- Diagnostic equipment (VAGCOM and VAS5054A) available for use

- Free shipping voucher for forum members who attend for use on a future order

- Use of our car ramp if you want to get under your own vehicle

- A chance to see a rather unique pre-facelift S8

- Some fun stuff with Airbags

- Mike did mention some Drag Racing up our 'private' quarter mile but I have no idea about that whatsoever, honest....

- And, as already mentioned by Mike - food and drink, a chance to see a car part-dismantled, meet the team, browse the shelves, and buy lots of stuff

There will no doubt be more going on but hopefully that is enough to whet everyones appetite, and I hope we see you all on the day

This sounds really interesting, would be nice to see how well built they are. It was good seeing examples of my old Lexus in pieces and how well they were put together and how overengineered they were.

Plus it's only up the road for me and it looks like there are no comps on at the golf club, so I think i'll pop up there.

I am surprised I never saw my old Sexlus in pieces.
It gave me more than a few hairy moments on corners and islands that the Audis just shrug at. I'm still shocked at the way either of My 8's deal with corners at speeds I could not have contemplated in the LS400

Shocked isn't quite the word I'd use though.
I remember the first time I did something "unreasonable"..
No, it was just plain RIDICULOUS.
The S8 just sort of "twitched" and went exactly where I'd pointed it.
I went round the next corner, pulled over and stopped, thinking how the hell did it do that, because I certainly didn't.....

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
