Default solar panel sunroof

Hi everyone,

All of the people that own the solar panel sunroof, could you let me know your thoughts on it please, usefull addition,a lighter cabin etc,etc

Its just that I fancy having one, what with the sale price, but is it worth having,or is it a waste of cash especially with our summer weather.

Also how much of a job is it to fit oneselves?

Thanks in advance

Rich

I don't have one, but it's on the wish list. They are not see through so will not make the cabin lighter. They will keep the cabin noticeable cooler on a hot day though. Ian has fitted several and will do it for you if you tempt him with silver and gold coloured things..........

Hi There,

Certainly my standard sunroof is see through...its dark frosted, but pulling the roof shade back and forwards makes a difference....i rather like pushing it back on a sunny but cold day and getting a bit more light in.

There is an solar one on ebay from a8 parts which includes fitting if you take the car to them....i've also been curious about it....then again, tilt the sunroof and it lets the warm air out if its a hot sunny day.

I have one factory fitted, and you can't see through it - due to the roof lining (i.e. you can't pull the 'slide shade' back anyway to let light in - its open, or closed)
Functionality wise, yes it does keep some airflow going.. not like having the air con on so don't expect 'cold' cabin, infact you sometimes wonder if there is any difference, but you need to get into a car without one on a hot day. Then you notice, and I would say its the same as you would get leaving the window open about an inch.
Good talking point gimmic otherwise.
