Thanks ainarssems. I'll google that part number and have a look........... Yep! A8 parts has one on ebay...it would only cost me $50 AUD to my door! I think I will keep prototyping!

My car has an after market aerial installed but for all I know, they may have used the original grommet so it might fit. It crumbled when I interfered with it (there was a crack in it), so maybe it was the original part.

I have the original aerial assembly but the previous owner had it replaced....he told me why but I can't remember.

25 years! That makes sense seeing your skill on display. Yes - Tinkercad does have its limits and a lack of precision/resolution but is oh so easy for someone as lazy as me!

Check out a chap called Lars Christiansen on Youtube - he has some great tutorials which is how I got started
I think I have seen some of his vids. I will have to watch one to confirm. I have been making my way through the lynda.com tutorials on fusion 360 which has been helpful. I get lost in the complexity of the software and usually quickly retreat back to Tinkercad when I get frustrated I am ashamed to say.

Our sponsors have new ones available according to eBay.

Edit: Oooops, missed an earlier post saying that.

Hey Marty,

Yes it does. I have some flexible black filament that I bought at Aldi but it is not as nice as the snow white Ninjaflex that I have but still serviceable for making parts. I have done phone cases and side rear view mirror gaskets for a WB Ute with success.

I am guessing that the grommet that I printed was for where the wires go into the rear quarter panel that you can see when lifting the boot lid?

The one on the right side of my vehicle was missing so bonus! Seems to fit perfectly with no gluing, although probably wise to as the parts may fall into the panel void I suppose. I'll leave mine unglued and see how it fares.

Thank you MJ for allowing me to print these and I hope you don't mind me posting the results here. I probably should have asked first I am thinking in hindsight.

Even though I know how it works, its still slightly magical that something I designed on my computer can then be a real object on the other side of the planet a short while later

It looks like it fitted quite well too. I'd definitely glue that design to make it weather-tight, but that might not matter in some parts of Australia I guess? I need to get my machines printing TPU now!

MJ, I know that feeling of awe.
Over 25 years back I wrote an XL worksheet with embodied macros that I used at work. I passed it onto others and they used it in UK and Europe. A couple of years back I attended a reunion and one of the young guys told me that he had seen it being used on a training course in the States.
Magic.
Shame I couldn't copywrite it!!!!!
