Default Swapping 5 speeder for 4 speeder

anyone any comment on if this is possible? I'd naturally assume you would need the gearbox ECU as well but other than that is it a major piece of work to swap from a 4.2 early 4 speeder into a 4.2 '97 5 speeder?

From the post that suggests the 4 speeder is robust enough that its covering huge mileage without concern I'd be happy to trade a little performance hit for piece of mind that my gearbox isn't about to blow up every two mins.

I think you need a new diff (not 100%), gearbox ECU and a new gearbox selector surround. I'm sure someone else will add to that but It is possible to swap them over.

You might get away without the diffs, but it depends on the ratios.

You may also need a different engine ECU as some of it needs signals from the tranny ECU.

If you use the audiworld forums, the guy to as for is TozoM8.. He is the A8 gearbox god over there, converted his A8 to manual (auto only in the US too) and has rescued many a box for other members.
