This pricing for X3 looks better but no exact shipping date. Would not want to risk on my own but might go 50/50 with a friend for one.

Thats quite a price drop. Because of this perhaps:

One major cryptocurrency which is using CryptoNight hash function is about to change their PoW algothrim, and according to their public statement, it is purposely to brick ASIC mining rigs including X3. When you buying it, you are betting that they are wrong.
Monero?

Wow.

Tempting at that price but I feel like it's the D3 all over again.

D3 has been a bit of disaster, but Bitmain are sellinng them again @$550 so it shows how much profit they potentially make on each at full price. R&D costs aside they are probably less than $200 to make. After D3 I chickened out on cheap Giant X10 in November and they are still making good money. I guess many others chickened out as well so they did not sell too many which helps with profitability. I took a chance on A3 although it looked like it could be another D3, it has arrived now and still earning OK, at current rate it will pay back in 2 months, as the profitability goes down maybe in 4-6 months which is still OK. It might be going in waves and more people might buy X3 seeing as A3 still does OK and too many might be sold again which could result in D3 story again. That's why I am being cautious and do not want to buy one on my own but we are strongly considering buying 1 between 2 of us to spread the risk.

It's a shame there are no more $300 Bitmain coupons for sale on e-bay anymore but still plenty of $200 at cheap prices to bring the cost down a little bit and I still have 3x $100 and 1x $125 coupons of my own after using my $200 coupon for L3+ which actually shipped today so should be arriving next week. Don't know where i will put it as my garage was 40C today and one of S9's had switched off while the other was running 110C+

Too many CryptoNight/CryptoNote miners hitting market at the same time. In addition to Baikalminer and Bitmain others are Pinldea RR-200 27kH/s @ 350W, no price yet, DragonMint X1 124kH/s @245W $1600 and X2 248 kH/s @ 490W $3000. I think I will sit this one out and see what happens.

You need to pump the heat outside or build a greenhouse next to your garage Ainars ...

I'm just hoping this cold spell lasts a bit longer. When the weather warmed up a bit last week I came close to turning a miner or two off. The heat in the house was becoming unbearable. But now that the temperature outside has dropped again, the temperature inside is just about right.

Temp inside garage is 20-30C higher than outside depending on wind, whether there is any sunshine and rain. After packing up gaps to reduce noise escaping from garage most of heat is conducted out through the corrugated fibre cement roof so sunshine heating up roof or rain cooling it down make big difference. Friday was dry, little wind and bright sunshine most of time so it all added up. I suppose I could add some kind of water sprayer on the roof to help cooling but neighbours will not be impressed when wind blows the spray over.

I have not made much progress with cooling/ventilation but did a bit of work today after yesterdays heat. I have replaced one of window panes with plastic panel and connected 12" 1300 cfm/400Pa intake fan with acoustic ducting. With outside temp around 0-2C today it was 22C in garage, switching the fan on it went down to 8C within couple of minutes and you could hear Antminer fans slowing down as well. The problem is that this fan makes too much noise on the outside - about 65dB so I have switched it off for now. I think the problem is that there is only about 1m of ducting betwen fan and outside vent, I put it at 90 degree angle to help with noise reduction but it seems I need a longer run between fan and outside vent in the window panel.

I will see if I can get some pictures but my garage is very messy at the best of times and now it is chock a block with stuff piled upon other stuff to make room for miners and other suff so that I am embarrassed to show it. If i can get /cut picture without showing too much embarrassing stuff I will add them, otherwise it will need to wait until I get it tidied up.

Time for some Guiness in honour of St Patricks day and try to take some pictures.🍻

Edit

Managed to get some pics without showing the mess Just for size reference the inside diameter of that ducting is 315mm.
