here is pic of my rear, i did it as the red didnt look right with all the dark colour of the car and much prefer them dark so they blend in. Funny thing was i did 4 or 5 coats and thought it isnt working so went in the house for 20 min and when came back they looked black, alot darker then in pic, didnt use boy racer tint tho as that stuff they use also effects the brightness of lights, where this paint so say doesnt. The company also says u can use this on front headlights without effecting lights but not tryed it.

hmm thats interesting A8 owner, i think it would look even better on my lighter coloured car as the difference in the lenses tends to show up even more, really tempted to do it to mine

Looks cool Ska. I may have a use for your photochop skills.

However, you can't beat the real thing. And here it is......


This was 2 coats on all lights. I masked them up on the car. Took 4 times as long to do the masking up as it did to do the tinting. I used an artists paint brush and painted the reversing lights with Petroleum Jelly. Once the tint had dried it just wiped of. I used a fairly heavy coat of Vaseline though.

So the options are:
The dark Smoked look which I think would look great on a light colour car or anything Gangsta Modded!




or buy a US set of lenses for a million squids


The tint I used is E-Tech Red Tint and I have bought some Tint Remover just in case Mr MOT man doesn't like it or PC Plod has a chat.

Thanks Archi,

Total cost was the tint and 1/2 roll of masking tape. Time about 1 1/2 hours, 15 mins spraying. A tin will do about 3 coats (each coat is a pass horizontally and the vertically).

The trick is to be very careful with the masking so that the rubber surround is covered.

My contracted out rate is £92 per hour + expenses. Minnimum 4 hours!

I am in the States and it looks like you're on the right track! I have a silver A8 like "Ska" and I was thinking of doing the same to mine. Here is a link to further explain the best way of doing it. Its on a 350Z, but the process is the same. Good Luck!!

I love the look of the black tint on a black car, my only concern is the fact that I took a second look and my sub brain said, "ooh, an old Senator". I'll have to see it in the flesh in June to make my mind up .
