What is this plug/socket connecting please?
Hi guys,
Having some issues with water getting into the car so started cleaning the leaves etc that accumulated under the bonnet/windscreen. Whilst doing so I noticed that one of the plugs have been disconnected and sealed with a rubber cap on one end. I have reconnected it back to start hearing some sort of noisy 'fan' inside the centre HVAC air intake box. Anyone knows what is this powering? Seems like the previous owner must have disconnected it because of the noise? Anything that the car is missing with this disconnected? Cheers. Tom

Almost certainly the lead to the auxiliary water pump. Can get very noisy.
I had to disconnect it on both my S8's, though it's easier to do on a PF which I guess yours is. (Edit, just read that in your sig) Very little effect, takes a bit longer to get warm air in the cabin in winter. And the "rest" function on the heater no longer works properly.

(internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

For the water ingress problem search for Botangs Hole, a very common problem on the D2 both pre and facelift suffer.
