There will be a degree of tolerance in this, but the further away from the optimum track you get by either increasing or decreasing offset of the wheels (and thereby altering the wheels virtual centre), the more you decrease the optimum handling of the car.

I think when it comes to track it shouldn't matter based on these minor amounts, essentially on all track discussions we have for handling (i this specific instance for the TT) the general experience is wider is better, although sometimes this produces scrub, it also has benefits in that you can run wider rubber and increase the amount of traction to the road, more centralised weight balance inside the wider track, etc...

I think if you looking at increasing the ET in this case for winter tyres, you aren't going to be hooning it around (err, because it will be in winter time) so the minor increase in track will barely be felt, in essence more akin to someone running spacers.

As a guide, each ET removed is equivalent to 1mm in spacing, so going from ET45 to ET35 is the same as running ET45 with a 10mm spacer (10-20mm spacing is pretty common on these cars without issues)
