Thanks for that.

I did go through the whole motor/caliper question but it's due a brake fluid change so I'll end up swapping the unit out as a whole. What I will do though is use an electrical sealant grease around the seal to try and futureproof the repair.

Between the sat nav aerial on the D4 and the PB motors on the D3, Audi have taken their eye off of the ball on the whole waterproofing front!

Problem solved, new caliper on the offside, working motor from there transferred back to the nearside, recalibrated and seems fine.

It was meant to be an exchange caliper but it's split new and came in a TRW box complete with bolts, shims etc. and prefilled with fluid. We'll see how long this one lasts!

Well done Murray's

I have skipped to the end of this thread, but I had the same issue and it turned out to be the EPB ECU that lives in the boot under the battery, I changed this and instant relief from the symphony of beeps

I ruled that out by switching the parking brake motors over and the fault transferred with it so definitely not that on this occasion

Must be something in the air - On the motorway today, I had a beep and the small EPB warning. I thought :-why now ? I am not using it- and carried on so I could do VCDS at home.
I stopped off 100 miles later and set off again and later a lorry started to flash me. One of the rear brakes was smoking.

I thanked him and pulled over and got out and the drivers brake was very hot. I asked the wife to cycle the EPB and it was making the usual noise but came up with the big full DIS error. Kept cycling it and seemed free so drove home slowly. When I got home it was not that hot and VCDS had 3 errors as at the bottom.

If the weather's fine at the weekend, I'll check the connectors again and remove them and grease them up and hope for the best.

And now the nearside one has gone!

Certainly predictable enough I suppose as it had the same cracking to the plastic cover that the offside did.

Had to pop the fuses on this one though as the ECU thought it was stuck on (it wasn't, it had failed in the open position).

Vexing, terribly, terrible vexing!

An easy fix though.
