Default Kufatec

OK all, tell me about Kufatec kit to upgrade infotainment systems.

My newly acquired 2003 D3 3.7 has analog TV function, BOSE and I assume the original version of MMI. The issue I have with all the DVD and DVB-T options available from Kufatec is the fact they want me to buy item 35600 as well, if I don't have the rear camera. I can swallow €400 for the DVD stuff but another €650 for a box to allow a system already capable of displaying video (ie the TV) seems nuts. And where would that box live in case it is there already.

Advice welcome because if video is going to cost me €1k I'll just take a €500 hit for the iPOD/USB box?

Have you checked with them? I thought it just depended on whether your MMI had TV function or not.

I await their response with bated breath but thought I'd ask here first. You have responded faster than they

Hooray. They say I do not need the expensive hidden metal box so DVD time it is. DVD unit also has USB and CD/DVD MP3 capability. MMI upgrade first: discs already ordered.

Visit www.kufatec.de and check out some of the other toys. I'm veering towards the iPod Video interface so I can just use the Archos and have rear screens if required (it has an s-video out).

I just got the AV input cables for mine.. you can have 2 inputs and 1 output through the TV tuner, though for some reason I only bought the one

Given that yours and my cars are the same year, where do these cables come from and where do they plug in?

They come from Kufatec and slip into the connector on the TV box. You could make them up yourself if you were handy with a soldering iron and got the little metal sleeves that would slip into the connector (maplin would probably to them).

Was just talking to company in Bolton today about retrofit digital tv, http://www.audiretrofit.com they told me that if you have analogue tv to start they fit a non audi tuner which sounds like the one Kufatec have with the remote. Cost in this case is £350 plus vat, but, if no analogue tv, then cost doubles! Aerials required and another box of some sort which I think provides av outputs. £700ish plus vat is a bit steep for me. To make me feel better he told me that Audi dtv kit retrofitted would be £1500ish(gasp) Seems like a dtv install from scratch needs a significant outlay.
