Default New Style Key

This was asked on another forum, I don't know the answer and can't find it so thought I'd ask cause it sparked my curiosity.

Will the new style audi Key work with our D3s?

This style.

Same here

It should stop the blade flicking out and getting cause in my pockets or stabbing me in my leg when I sit down.

I'm still trying to get use to not having a key in the ignition.

I've been trying to find some information on the smart key but can't find much and I don't think anyone has done it or looked in to it.

I tried this design and it is completely different...

I can't see them changing back to older design internals with a later key.

When you sat its different?

The frequency needed?

I know in the older cars it was all about the frequency but I got no idea on the new and newer ones.

Sorry, I thought you meant swapping internals to the new style case.
Frequency wise - I don't know, but I like the idea - it says the frequency in small text under the key blade on ours, so we can compare this to the new ones.

I'd imagine the immobiliser encryption/authorisation codes would be different between versions of keys too.

Snapdragon, I did the same thing. Cut the board down, made my own tracks up, sorted the buttons out and the batteries, but could not close the damn case

PsYcHe, yeah that's my thinking.
Be nice to know for sure though

Thats what I was thinking, swapping internals as I don't think that current electronics would be compatible with older A8s, Audi wouldn't make it so easy.

Then I was thinking how about the blade, new cut yeah, but this fella says you can actually swap the blade, which in our case would need cutting off the blade and sticking in the place of the existing IF you can of course take the old blade out somehow (new key)?? Or thats too much of me thinking.

If there is no definite answer then looks like buying one and having a go with VCDS is one of the options.
There must be a way (the hard way probably of fitting old board in there

If the one with 4H part number wont work maybe some newer cars with PN 8T will have same electronics/frequency what D3s ???
