Default Audi A8 2.8 Problem

I have recently purchased an audi a8 2.8 2001 but on tick over as she was stood it started juddering and then cut out??? After investigation it shows that the tensioner nylon support against the chain had failed also, we have since found out that the valves have bent and sadly a hole in the piston so, has anybody experienced this before and i also need some advice/help on finding a piston? A chain tensioner for chain for both heads. Any advice given will be much appreciated.

oh man.. that sucks.


never heard on a 2.8 going, but they are less common. have you checked with a8parts, may be easiest to go with a replacement engine.

it will probably be cheaper to get a whole second hand engine

Concur with the replacement engine plan. Could be an opportunity to drrop in something like a 2.7 Bi Turbo from an s4/6. A8parts had one in the other day.

For engine parts, as an alternative try Gosnays of Romford. They have one of my engines atm and have a huge stock of componants and should be ceaper than Audi or TPS.

2003 2.8 A8SQ - powder blueish. Fill in for a while. Sold on.
1998 1.8T A4 Avant FWD. Ming Blue (there's a theme here), PEX for the 97 S8.
And a list of non VAG going back 40 years before I saw the light.
