Aircon - 00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
Hi There,
Was just checking the codes and this came up. Its only the start of the warm weather and I had been noticing the aircon not working well. Ross tech has http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00792 Last year I regassed the system http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...ghlight=aircon The preasure check it by holding a vacuum and it did that no problems. No one has really been near the system since and it was working fine last year. A leak isn't imposible, but i'd guess unlikely. So i'm guessing a switch. Any idea on where etc. or other ideas Ta, A rather warm Lee

The only way to check the switch is to make sure the system is up to pressure then measure the resistance on the switch. The switch allows the compressor clutch to engage if the system is at the right pressure and the compressor is required to run. If the switch is not allowing the magnetic clutch to operate, (you can test the operation of the clutch in the output test in VagCom in the HVAC section) it's either because there is no pressure of the switch is duff.

Here we go. Open VCDS to the HVAC page and select button 03 (bottom of column 3). You'll see this:
Hit start and cycle through the tests and you will see this: Once all the tests are complete check the faults section to see if any registered. If there is a clutch fault then it is possible you have a faulty clutch. The other 2 options are low pressure and pressure switch.
