In the short term you don't need all the fixings, maybe just one screw is enough.
But you do need to make sure that the heavy insulating/waterproof layers that overlap it at the top are in the right place.

1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

It is a fiddly job that's for sure, made all the more difficult by having to contort yourself upside-down in the footwell! Always takes me ages to get the damn thing back on too!

The wood, compressed cardboard, or whatever it is, is awful too. I replaced mine a couple of years ago with 'tile-backer' board lined with foam rubber:

Mark good work with that custom fix

I heard back from the garage friday!

Well it wasn't the hazard switch unfortunately...

The fault has been traced to a relay on the part of the electric circuit / board which has corroded terminals. It has corroded because where this electric circuit sits (passenger side under the carpet up by the back of the glove box) is full of water.

All blockages up around the scuttle panel and drain tubes have now been cleaned out and there is no ingress into the car on this side

some of the corroded wires have now been repaired and it looks like just the one relay will be required arriving monday

Cars also in for MOT, service, coilovers and wheel spacers
