Gone out to the car tonight to see a puddle of fluid from the drivers side area,

Looked under the car from the plastic under tray there is a triangle shaped vent the fluid seems to be coming from there dripping away, is it water? or coolent something i need to get looked at?, or just a drain?

bit gutted tbh

Definitely coolant? Prime candidate for driver's side coolant leaks is the oil cooler plastic pipe. Best to get the tray off and have a look around the engine. The oil cooler leak will drip down under the alternator.

There's a how-to here: http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...reinstall.html

Not a fun job, but fairly important if it is that.

I think MJ quoted this before?.....it its not leaking something then theres no fluid left in it.

Theres a similar saying about landrover defenders

Have just spent the evening pulling a rocker cover off to fix a leaky gasket. Have been driving round for the last two weeks breathing in burning oil fumes!

Welcome to D2 ownership!

Could be power steering fluid.
Is it from the passenger side?

I must have been lucky, had mine over 6 years so far and nothing has leaked, hope I am not tempting fate...

Hopefully it might just be condensate from one of the drains on yours....

Soak some up on a bit of white paper to get a better idea of what it is.

Pale pink and watery - coolant
Clear & odourless - AC condensation
Green (fresh) / light brown (old) - PS fluid (usually driver's side)
Light brown & stinky - diff oil
Light brown (fresh) / dark brown (old) - engine oil
Yellow (fresh) / grey brown (old) and a bit fishy - gearbox oil
Bright red - oops, check for missing or damaged digits

This need printed as a sticker for under the bonnet...."How to identify what's leaking from your Audi"
